Arizonans for Promoting Integrity (AFPI) is a nonpartisan 501(c)(4) with a mission to promote education on local issues, from responsible monitoring of the closed landfill to eliminating dark money in local politics. Our key areas of focus in general are:
- Smart Growth
- Water Conservation
- Integrity
- Transparency
We believe government officials should adhere to a code of ethics, be honest and avoid self-serving actions and pandering to special interests. We support:
- Honesty in messaging and campaign statements
- Truth in statements and activities
- Rejection of donations that compromise ethics
- Delivering on campaign promises
Smart Growth
Prescott voters expect governmental bodies to look out for their best interests when it comes to the location, density, and quality of growth. Failure to properly plan results in sprawl, high traffic volume due to inadequate infrastructure, and overtaxing public services—including expanding Prescott water rights beyond city limits, further reducing safe yield.
Water Conservation
In Arizona in general, and in Prescott and Yavapai County in particular, governments have failed to establish water conservation policies that recognize the severe ongoing drought. Our water policy must undergo a fundamental change.
Integrity
We support candidates who adhere to a high standard of honesty, integrity, and ethics. This includes reviewing campaign donations, especially those which could result in compromised and quid pro quo decision-making.
Transparency
We support transparency in local government and in the actions of our elected officials. This includes public access to information used in decision-making and extended comment periods for proposed developments.
